Monitor fleet performance with it’s work efficiency
We always have many solutions to monitor the performance of the fleet in movement.
Performance can be measured by monitoring speed, average, fuel consumption, etc.
But when it comes to idle speed, we lack behind. Idle speed means the speed of the engine working when the fleet is not in movement. In short, the working speed of the fleet is not in motion.
RPM is used to monitor this type of performance. Here we will see RPM and its importance.
What is RPM?
RPM stands for Revolution Per Minute. It measures the revolution speed of a turbine or other rotating machines. In other words, it measures the operation speed in the given time.
In motorcars, it measures the number of times the engine’s crankshaft completes one rotation in every minute and also measures the number of times each piston goes up and down in its cylinder.
Have you ever noticed the RPM meter in your car?
The tachometer on the dash, mostly on the left side of the speedometer, monitors the RPM of your car. Whenever you press the accelerator, you will notice a change in the tachometer. RPM is not only used in cars but also useful in fleets like bulldozers, Front loaders, and Cranes that work idler.
Let’s take the example of Crane. In the crane when the pulley lifts the device the object, the movement of the piston in the hydraulic cylinder is measured in rpm. The older RPM meters were found in analog, but nowadays it is available in digital form in vehicles.
Now, you have an idea of what an RPM meter is and how it works in the car.
Indication of RPM
Importance of RPM
- Decide when to shift gears on a manual transmission
- Increase your car’s mileage by shifting gears at the right RPM level
- Determine if your engine and transmission are operating properly
- Drive your vehicle without damaging the engine.
How Trakzee help to monitor your fleet performance with RPM?
As discussed ahead, the revolution speed of the crankshaft of the engine every minute is recorded by the piston moving up and down. Then, this motion is delivered to the engine in the form of rotations and then measured in RPM.
The data captured by the RPM are sent to the Trakzee Platform. Then it calculates the performance. It also gives the time at which the data was last captured.
Moreover, Trakzee gives information on which vehicle is working at what location. This helps to know if your fleet is working at other locations than assigned.
It enables you to know if the RPM device is active or inactive. We can identify the port attached to the device with Trakzee.
The RPM summary report of any time can be obtained with stoppage time, working duration, and running time of every fleet.
Thus, Trakzee gives you data to understand the performance of the fleet with RPM.
Closure
The RPM meter not only helps you to watch the performance but helps you take measures to improve performance. Connect to your fleet and get more profit.
